Somehow I missed my own birthday! That happens when you get older, I guess.
I realized this fact yesterday when I wrote the date on a check for the first time this year…2011?! I’ve been blogging for over three years now? Who woulda thought?
When I think back over the past three years, so much has happened. Some of it great, some of it not so great. Y’all have stuck with me through it all and I am so thankful for each and every one of you! Thank you for making ELR what it is today and I’m so excited about new stuff to come in the future!
Here are some of my very favorite posts over the past three years!
- Last Day of Culinary Externship
- An Extended Vacation
- Healthy Living Summit, 2009
- She Made The Cut
- Murphy-Goode Adventures
- California, Here I Come
- The Trip Home
- Christmas on the Coast, 2009
- The Big Reveal
- Enjoying Life To The Fullest
- Yosemite Adventures
- A Virtual Dinner Party (plus video)
- A Retro Road Trip (plus video)
- Fun in the Snow
- The Great Chili Cook-Off
And a few of my very favorite recipes!
- Engagement Scampi
- Mom’s Barbecue Pulled Chicken
- Chicken and Green Chili Enchiladas
- White Chicken Chili
- Chocolate Walnut Torte
- Chocolate Covered Mint Oreos
- Beef Tenderloin with Apricot and Olives
- Whole Wheat Walnut Carrot Cake with Coconut Frosting
- Triple Layer Mint S’more Brownies
- Linguine with Clams
As a token of my affection and gratitude, I’d like to give away a brand new copy of one of my very favorite cookbooks:
As you may know, I spent mostly all the summers of my youth working as a camp counselor at FOCUS camp up on the vineyard! It was there that I fell completely and totally in love with The Black Dog Tavern and this cookbook!
All the recipes in this book are simply fabulous—favorites being the restaurant’s signature peanut sesame noodles and the best ginger cookies I’ve ever tried!
To enter this giveaway, just leave a comment on this post. Say anything you want! I’ll randomly choose a winner tomorrow morning at 7am PST.

January 8, 2011 at 11:22 amI had a friend give me your blog a few months ago to entertain me in my medical school classes (lectures can be boring 🙂 ), and I have been hooked! I am a visual learner, and have always had a yearning to experiment/create in the kitchen. Your blog has made a wonderful road map for me to expand my cooking endeavors. I have cooked half a dozen things from your page in the past month, and it has made my tummy full and given me a great way to relax. Thanks for your creative posts!

January 8, 2011 at 11:23 amThank you for your words and pictures on this blog. I started reading healthy living blogs for inspiration and found most to be rather uninspiring. Mostly because the things they say are unattainable to me. Chia seeds, special nut butters and running marathons are not going to happen for a lot of reasons. You have struck a chord with me though. I like what I read and see. I also like that you called your dear man Almanzo. I thought it was sweet. Tell him it is a term of endearment and you’ll only do it on your blog. Jessica calls her husband Mr. How Sweet. I think Manly would work for you fella too. Thanks again for making me smile. Peace, Anne WF

January 8, 2011 at 12:21 pmHappy Birthday, I love your blog and your fun outlook on everything. You inspired me to sign up in Oct. 2009 for a biking/wine tour trip in Sonoma from your Murphy-Goode experience and I actually met you on our tour of Michel Schlumberger. Don’t know if you remember but I had a fun trip and stepped outside of my comfort zone. Kind of like you I learned that I’m just not all that into biking but I know that I can do it and met lots of fabulous friends, too.

January 8, 2011 at 2:05 pmThree years is a long time. I have only been with you a few short months. Slowly I am reading the archives. I collect cookbooks and would love to add this to my collection. My very first cookbook was of course Betty Crocker, but my very favorite second cookbook was from Farm Journal. Those farm women really know how to put a meal together. I love that most every recipe was from scratch like they did in what I am presuming the olden days. Maybe that is why I love your blog so much. True cooking/baking from the heart and soul.

January 8, 2011 at 8:32 pmHi Jenna,
I just started reading your blog 2 months ago and I have been completely addicted since reading the first post. You write with such rawness that I feel that any reader can relate to you. You admit your mistakes about your cooking/baking which I love because I feel like less of a failure in the kitchen knowing that someone who has been to culinary sometimes makes mistakes and you just roll with them. I love trying your recipes, and reading the “Things you Love”, and your “Confessions”.
Happy 3rd Birthday and cheers to a bright and delicious future.
