Have you guys heard of David Kind?
They are an eyeglass company based in Los Angeles that gives you the unique opportunity to get virtually styled into a pair of super hip glasses. All you do is upload your photo into their system {you can use whatever photo you like or link to Facebook} and then their master stylist picks six frames that she thinks fits your face and features the very best. Those six frames are shipped out asap to you, risk free, you try them all on at home and then decide which ones you want to keep. Super fun, right?
I first heard about David Kind from my friend Kacia’s blog. She did the trial and looked so cute in her glasses that I immediately went over to their website to get styled myself. I’m really terrible at picking out glasses for myself and thought it would be fun to let a stylist who previously worked with a ton of A-list celebrities work her magic.
Two days later this showed up on my doorstep:
Inside the envelope, Trish, the lead stylist for David Kind, had written handwritten notes on why she thought each pair would work for me. I had a blast trying them all on {see top photo!} and modeling for Adam.
They were all such fun and funky frames that pushed me out of my comfort zone a little bit…in a good way!
We snapped some photos and I emailed them all to Trish with subject line “I don’t know which to piiiiiick!” She immediately wrote back with MORE notes on each one and we narrowed my selections down to two. She even offered to skype with me this week if I had any more questions. How’s that for VIP treatment? This wasn’t because I am a blogger – they offer this special treatment to everyone!
So you guys wanna know which frames I decided to keep? It was toss up but……I decided on these guys:
They were my original favorites from the box and Adam’s favorites on me. What sealed the deal though was when I emailed Trish all the photos and she also picked these as her favorites, too! I wear a VERY strong prescription and need a frame that will support it, which these apparently will do nicely.
I haven’t gotten my new glasses yet in the mail — it takes 5 days to process and I just sent the trial pairs back yesterday — but I can’t wait! All frames + prescription run at $295, which is a bit more expensive than some competitors but I really enjoyed the whole styling process that went along with it. Plus, from everything I know the glasses are incredibly high quality and very well made. I’ll have these bad boys for a long time to come!
Oh, and I’ve officially gotten Adam hooked, too. The poor guy needs new glasses way more than me so he’s next up to get styled by Trish.
I opted to review this product because I loved the experience so much that I had to share! If you’re a blogger, David Kind does offer a fun referral service where you are able to earn reward points that you can put towards special VIP invites as well as free glasses! The link I used in this post is my personal referral link.

March 5, 2014 at 4:09 amGirl, THANK YOU! My husband has been needing new glasses for so, so long. His current pair is being held together by a band-aid! Classy, right?! He says he doesn’t have time to go look for a new pair. Now he won’t have an excuse when this shows up at our house! I’m ordering asap!

March 5, 2014 at 5:04 amYou made the right choice! Those glasses looks great on you. I love that eyeglass companies are becoming more involved in the selection process. This seems like a great system. When it comes to glasses I don’t mind spending a little extra. I mean, you have to wear them almost every single day and right on your face!

March 5, 2014 at 7:06 pmThose glasses look great on you! As an optometrist I have seen too many problems with online glasses, so I would suggest taking them to an optician once you receive the final glasses and making sure the prescription is correct, the lenses are exactly what you ordered (plastic or polycarbonate, anti reflective coating, etc.), and to have them adjusted to fit your face. Do you know if this company has a return policy for errors and if they provide a warranty? Enjoy the new glasses and I’m excited to see more pictures with them.
David Kind
March 6, 2014 at 4:46 pmHey Chelsea! Thanks for bringing up such important points. We also have seen too many problems with many of the low cost online eyeglass companies.
The answer is yes, we will remake lenses free of charge and we also provide a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects. Also, we recommend to have all current eyeglasses checked during an exam, or to see an eye doctor if there is a specific issue with a pair of lenses, regardless of where purchased to ensure the lenses match the current prescription. Lastly, we believe best lenses result in the best vision, so we include anti reflective coatings and include Trivex digital lenses, which is a quality upgrade to conventional plastic or polycarbonate lenses most companies use.
Hope this helps! If you guys have anymore questions, please feel free to tweet us @davidkindla.

March 14, 2014 at 6:25 amHi Jenna!
After reading your blog about this company, I just HAD to try them out! I’ve worn glasses since I was 12, and have hated them since day 1. I can never seem to find one I like, and always have had to opt for the cheapest version of what I could find. I have progressive lenses and need the anti-glare, etc. and my lenses have always been the most expensive part of the equation.
Immediately after reading this, I used your link and went to their website. I was so impressed that I signed right up to be styled! Trish was very responsive to my email questions, and I even video chatted with her last night to get her opinion and make sure I picked the right one! (She is totally awesome!) Trish ordered my new glasses last night and I can not wait to get them!
Thanks for passing along your experience with David Kind. For the first time in my life, I had fun picking out new glasses!
Kathryn
March 14, 2014 at 6:28 amAlso? I LOVE the ones you picked! That is my favorite pair on you, too! 🙂
