I believe nutella and graham crackers can be a perfectly acceptable dinner.
Last week when I was on a hike, I thought I heard a mountain lion so I sat down on a rock and pretended to be invisible for nine minutes. Turned out, it was just a squirrel.
I eat the skin on both kabocha squashes and kiwis. Sometimes it feels weird, but I just go with it.
After drinking two large glasses of wine and watching four episodes back to back of Mad Men, I created a verb form of Don Draper. An example would be “Gosh, you’re really don drapering that, aren’t you?”
If I were a boy, I would eat fried chicken and waffles every single day. I also would grow a mullet and go alligator hunting. Just kidding. Sort of.
Lady Gaga scares me. There. I said it.

September 23, 2010 at 11:01 amLOL LAdy GAGA scares me too!!!! and definetely agree with the : if I were a boy part 🙂

Maria @ Oh Healthy Day
September 23, 2010 at 11:05 amNutella should be acceptable for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or in my case, the occasional 12am snack.

September 23, 2010 at 11:05 amcan we please please get “don drapering” added to the dictionary!? i want to start using this verb.
i eat the skin on almost anything. it’s got extra nutrients, right? i’m also too busy (um, lazy) to peel.
Jessica @ How Sweet
September 23, 2010 at 11:05 amI can’t handle kiwi skins! You are brave.
Jess @ MTL Veggie
September 23, 2010 at 11:06 amLOL A mullet? Really? Thank goodness you’re a girl hehe
Lady Gaga annoys me more than she scares me.

September 23, 2010 at 11:07 amhahaha love this. I agree with most of it – especially the nutella and graham crackers part. I also love that picture of you!

September 23, 2010 at 11:07 amExcellent. But why would you have to be a boy to eat fried chicken and waffles? Unless we’re delving into the complexities of social acceptability/propriety. 😉
Allie (Live Laugh Eat)
September 23, 2010 at 11:08 amIf I were a boy I would eat Nutella and graham crackers every day.

September 23, 2010 at 11:08 amI don’t quite get Lady Gaga. I like her music, but she is just out there. And nutella + graham crackers sounds amazing now.
Heather (Heather's Dish)
September 23, 2010 at 11:10 amjenna, you’re beautiful and all, but i just don’t see you as a boy with a mullet. maybe the chicken and waffles thing, but probably not the mullet.
that is all 🙂

September 23, 2010 at 11:10 amnutella with a spoon is a meal in my opinion!
Liz
September 23, 2010 at 11:11 amI have to say, Lady Gaga might be out there, but I love her music and she puts on one hell of a show. Also, you know mullets are available for ladies also. I think it could be be a new chapter of your blog – the hair chronicles.

September 23, 2010 at 11:14 amHow have I never tried Nutella with graham crackers??
How is it that I AM in possession of graham crackers and NOT in possession of Nutella?!
My world is so upside down these days.

September 23, 2010 at 11:21 amThese posts brought a much needed smile to my day! Boy or girl… do what you want! I think girls have a better appreciation for the bliss Nutella brings to one’s life.

September 23, 2010 at 11:21 amWait, someone actually thinks nutella and graham crackers is not an acceptable dinner! Personally, when I need extra protein I favor pecans dipped in Nutella 😉 You’re on your own with the mullet though . . .

September 23, 2010 at 11:27 amHmmm let me try to develop a dictionary definition for “Don Drapering” or “to Don Draper”…how about: “to steal one’s heart by being the most perfect, handsome, dashing, and studly male creation ever to exist despite numerous shortcomings in the dealing-with-emotions and respecting-women departments (because I can separate those realms, can’t you), with apologies to all boyfriends, husbands, and men who are not Don Draper out there”?
🙂

September 23, 2010 at 11:28 amYesterday my husband and I were hiking in TN and heard A LOT of noise. I froze, thinking it had to be a bear or a mountain lion. I was pretty sure Reader’s Digest “Drama in Real Life” was about to become my life. No, it was too fuzzy little deer who bounded off all white-tailed.
Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga)
September 23, 2010 at 11:29 amLove your confessions! I just want your boots though. So badly!
The photo of you is awesome, too!

September 23, 2010 at 11:29 amWhen you hear a mountain lion, you’re supposed to make yourself as big as possible, not small! I googled it on my way to camping in Big Sur once. It suggested getting on a friend’s shoulders and flapping your jacket like a giant totem-bird monster. Seriously.
I eat kiwi skin too!

September 23, 2010 at 11:31 amOnce when my husband was out of town I woke up early to quiet voices in the living room and had myself CONVINCED people had broken into my third-floor condo. You know, so quietly I didn’t hear them but they then proceeded to talk in hushed towns for several minutes. I was TERRIFIED and couldn’t move. Finally, I got up, and it turns out my TV had turned itself on and the 5 am news was on. Our first flatscreen would do that sometimes before a firmware update. Still creepy to have a self-turning-on TV, but we laugh about it now. 🙂

September 23, 2010 at 1:01 pmIs the “read more” feature a permanent one? Not a fan. Feels likes you’re just trying to eke out more page views (ie once for just going to ELR dot com and once for the ELR dot com slash xyz). Just my opinion.
And no reason you can’t do the chicken/waffles/crazy haircut/alligator thing as a female… no need to have man parts for that, no ma’am.
jenna
September 23, 2010 at 1:05 pmI think it might stay….blogging is my full time job, so like any business woman, I try to maximize certain aspects of my job that, in turn, pay my bills. I don’t partner with any companies anymore and therefore, my only source of income is the revenue earned from this blog. The design you see right now though is temporary as I work on launching my new redesign…and I’m not sure exactly what that new design will look like yet.
Ella
September 23, 2010 at 1:41 pmThat’s the best justification I’ve seen for this feature yet – I respect that explanation, Jenna. While I normally find the “read more” button annoying for some reason I have not felt that way yet with Eat Live Run. I think it’s because the beginning of your posts are interesting enough that they grab me and I don’t mind clicking the button!
amber's notebook
September 23, 2010 at 1:46 pmI don’t have a problem with it either way but I will say that I thought you were having shorter posts or something I didn’t even notice the read more button at first and didn’t realize there were more to the posts. But i’m blonde so I may be the only one who though that.
Karen
September 23, 2010 at 2:27 pmI, too appreciate your candor, Jenna. Personally, I wasn’t aware of the reasons behind the double-click feature, nor did I find it annoying, but thanks for the open dialogue. Honesty is always best in my view. (Love this “confession” series!)

September 23, 2010 at 1:22 pmNeed to buy some Nutella….can you believe I have never had it?! I think Gaga is just strange! Music is catchy, but she is just too out there for me! And can’t picture you as a boy with a mullet! (Only have girls please!) If you love Fried Chicken and waffles, eat it every day! You eat enough good stuff to counteract the bad! I can eat some skins but not all! I can do Kiwi, don’t think I would do squash!

September 23, 2010 at 8:30 pmGraham crackers with Nutella is amazing. Pretzels dipped in Nutella are pretty darn good too. Tastes sort of liked chocolate dipped pretzels (one of my favorite treats) without the work of melting/dipping/waiting for them to dry.

September 23, 2010 at 9:08 pmI am a big fan of the Don Draper verb– definitely going to have to find some way to put that one to use. As a character, I find him so interesting because he’s a sort of anti-protagonist with surface likeability (because of his good looks, intelligence, and high level job) yet so many deeper aspects that make him loathable. Definitely keeps me watching!
