Oh, when a Tuesday feels like a Monday!
Someone out there must know what I mean. 😉 My mom left this morning after a week long visit and it’s always so hard to say goodbye. Living across the country from family never gets easier. We love our life out here but it’s really difficult to raise your kids with both sets of families so far away. Thank goodness for friends because it truly takes a village. Amen? Amen. That’s enough of my sob story for today – instead, let’s chat about your new favorite summery beverage. Honey Sweetened Peach Lemonade!
We are lucky enough to have several amazing fruit trees in our yard, peach and lemon being two of them. We also have two types of plums and apples! It’s crazy, you guys. I really wanted to create a yummy kid-friendly lemonade recipe that didn’t include loads of white sugar. This recipe makes a little over a quart of lemonade and only uses a quarter cup of raw honey! I would saw that is a big success.
This recipe is best if you make it with fresh, juicy, ripe peaches. So, if you don’t have a tree, get yourself to the market today and pick up some! You won’t regret it. Bellinis aren’t the only delicious beverage made with peach puree, after all.
You can also try using ripe nectarines or even cherries here. Just mess around with it and make it your own! I am so obsessed with stone fruit right now and this is an excellent way to use them all up before the season is over.
Cheers! And thank you all so much for your kind words on my previous post. It seems like you all really enjoy behind the butter posts so I promise there will be more coming!
- 1.5 cups chopped fresh peaches about 3 peaches, pitted
- 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice from about 4 lemons
- 1 quart hot water
- 1/4 cup raw honey
-
Puree the chopped peaches in a blender until very, very smooth. Add this, as well as the lemon juice, to the hot water and stir well. Add the honey and stir until the honey has all dissolved.
-
Chill thoroughly and serve over ice.

July 18, 2017 at 10:24 amThis looks and sounds delicious! Also, amen, amen, amen about it taking a village to raise kids. We, too, live very far away from family and it is SO HARD. My mom retires in 4.5 years and every time I talk to her I beg her to move in with us after she retires (she lives in Ohio)! Our lives operate on a precarious schedule and if one thing goes out of whack (like our 14 month old getting HFAM disease last week), it throws everything else out of whack. There is no back up plan and there is never, ever a break. Friends and neighbors do at least provide camaraderie and help make going through this crazy season in life fun and enjoyable.
