I seriously cannot even BELIEVE that Christmas is two weeks from TODAY. I feel like I say this every year at this time, but wow…where did the time go?! I think about last December…we moved into our new house in a new city right after Christmas. It felt like a hard season back then. I had a five month old and a two year old and, as much as I thought I would unpack “over the weekend”, we ended up living in boxes for months before we were finally all settled. I didn’t know anyone in our new area and I stayed home a ton with the boys. It rained. A lot.
Flash forward to this year and my boys are three and a half and (almost) one and a half. Luke started walking last month and that combined with his first haircut makes him seem so old to me! I’m officially the mom of a toddler and a preschooler and our days are busy, busy, busy.
I have been really loving spiced cider this season! I don’t know what I love more — the fact that whenever I make it my whole house smells like apples and spices… or the comforting, delicious taste. My boys love this, too! And the Instant Pot makes it SO easy to just throw together and enjoy within minutes.
This would be so perfect for any holiday get together. Just make and serve it directly in the Instant Pot!
OH, and don’t you think I forgot to mention how great this would be with a little somethin’ extra in it, either. 😉 You could definitely add a shot of Bourbon for a little spicy hot toddy.
I hope you guys enjoy this cider as much as we do! It will make your house smell amazing. If you don’t have an Instant Pot, no worries. You can do this on the stove or in a slow cooker on low for a few hours.
- 1 quart good quality apple cider
- 1/2 whole orange sliced
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 tsp whole cloves
- 1" knob fresh ginger peeled and sliced
- 1/4 tsp whole allspice
-
Place all ingredients in Instant Pot. Turn to manual and high pressure for 5 minutes. Do a quick release when done and enjoy!
For a holiday party, you can serve this right out of your Instant Pot! Just keep the pot on after the cider is done and it will automatically go to "warm" setting.
