Yesterday I made chicken wings!
What can I say? I had a craving. The boneless skinless buffalo wings from Chili’s were always my favorite restaurant meal as a kid {classy!}, and thus chicken wings have always held a special spot in my heart. I may or may not treat myself to those Chili’s wings whenever I travel alone and need a quick airport meal. In fact, I am traveling today and may or may not be sitting at Chili’s at this very moment, licking my chicken winged fingers.
Just kidding.
Maybe.
These wings aren’t exactly like buffalo wings, though, because they combine the sweetness of raspberry jam with spicy chipotle pepper sauce. They are baked rather than fried, and perfect for both game day parties {wahoo! football season is back!} and casual dinners at home. In fact, Adam and I enjoyed these wings last night with a side of macaroni and cheese and sweet potato fries. You can’t beat it!
All you need to make these finger lickin’ beauties is raspberry jam, butter, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and hot sauce. Plus chicken wings of course!
In this recipe, I am using Tabasco’s newest product, raspberry chipotle hot sauce, as I am working on developing some recipes for the brand. Only recently was I made aware that this new hot sauce isn’t available at the grocery store just yet {just online for right now!} so today I will be giving away five bottles of Tabasco Raspberry Chipotle sauce at the end of this post. Hooray!
I apologize for using an ingredient that isn’t as readily accessible as I thought—-but you could also totally substitute the raspberry chipotle sauce for regular hot sauce in this recipe.
So now let’s talk about wings for a sec. I bought these from Whole Foods but you can get them anywhere. If you don’t see them out at the store, ask the butcher!
When preparing chicken wings, you must chop off ze wing tip first, like so:
It should chop right off, no problem! Now you are good to go! {if you bake/fry chicken wings with wing tip still on, they will burn}
The wings are baked for 40 minutes and then dunked into a sweet-spicy-buttery-love sauce. They are positively addicting, so watch out!
And like I said, I’ll be giving away five bottles of Tabasco Raspberry Chipotle today! If you’d like to win a bottle, just leave a comment on this post and I will pick five spicy winners tonight at 10pm PST.
Raspberry Chipotle-Glazed Chicken Wings
serves 4-6
Ingredients:
2 1/2 – 3 lbs chicken wings
1 stick butter
2 tbsp good quality raspberry jam
3 tsp Raspberry Chipotle Tabasco sauce {or regular Tabasco sauce}
2 tbsp adobo sauce {from a can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce}
1/2 tsp salt
pinch of cayenne pepper
cooking spray
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 425.
Prepare your chicken wings by slicing off the wing tip {as demonstrated in above photo}. Leave chicken skin on! Place chicken wings on two baking sheets and lightly spray wings with cooking spray. Bake for 20 minutes then flip wings and bake for another 20 minutes.
While the wings are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and whisk in the raspberry jam, adobo sauce, hot sauce, salt and a small pinch of cayenne pepper. Whisk until smooth and combined.
Remove baked wings from oven and dip each wing in sauce with tongs. Shake off excess sauce and place wings on a platter for serving.
Time:
1 hour
**Sauce winners are: Chrissy (comment #10), Michelle (comment #19), Erika (comment #38), Betsy (comment # 93) and Carla (comment #134). Girls, please email your mailing address to jenna {at} eatliverun.com!

August 15, 2012 at 6:46 amNormally I wouldn’t gravitate toward any kind of raspberry on my wings, but almost all of your recipes are perfection, and if they’re not, they’re very close, so I just might try this one! You’ve never led me astray before. Would love some of the tabasco to go along with it, too!

August 15, 2012 at 8:29 amI’ve never made chicken wings… they kind of scare me. But seems simple enough if chopping off the wing tip, putting them in the oven and flipping half way through is all there is to it. Maybe I”ll give them a try.
P.S. Can you make supper for me everyday?

August 15, 2012 at 3:29 pmI buy a raspberry chipotle sauce from Costco, but it’s pretty spendy. I’d love to be able to make it at home.

August 15, 2012 at 3:40 pmRaspberry Chipotle sounds so interesting! Made me wonder if a marinade of mango chipotle would taste good too? I’m going to try this soon!
My fiance tried Buffalo Wild Wing’s for the first time and liked their variety of sauces. While not the best wings out there (for a chain), he liked that they offer drumsticks only/boneless white only/etc.

August 15, 2012 at 7:37 pmSo, what are the ingredients in the hot sauce? Is it flavored naturally with raspberries or is it artificial flavors and high fructose corn syrup? I’d like to know, but I’d probably try it either way.
Also, looking forward to your book.

August 16, 2012 at 4:28 pmHey! I spy a Downtown Brown! Did you guys make it to Lost Coast after all? I know their beers are pretty widely distributed throughout Northern California. There’s a sense of pride though, taken in drink a beer you bought at the source brewery. Kind of like a pick your own apple orchard. 🙂

September 18, 2012 at 10:30 amOMG! This were incredible! I made them this past Sunday for “Football Sunday” for my husband and I. My husband who loves wings, thought they were amazing and were the best baked wings he has ever had. The sauce was a perfect combo of sweet and spicy. We like things spicy in our house, so I added a little more cayenne then a pinch! Looking foward to trying your crockpot beef carnita next Sunday 🙂

March 31, 2013 at 2:43 pmDelicious!!!! I made these today for our 15th Annual Easter Cookoff. The theme ingredient for this year was Berries. I thought of making wings with a berry sauce and found this recipe. I made a little bigger batch (5# chix). I just added a half stick of butter, another tbls of Jam, I also substituted regular tobasco & 1 teas Wing sauce. It was a hit & I won the Grand Prize! Thank you!
