Wow, it certainly has been a busy day over here today! Between the traffic, the mall, the cooking, the walk, the manicure and pedicure I gave myself….hahaha 😉 I’m ready for a long winters nap! Actually, the mall wasn’t as painful as I would have thought today and I knocked everything out in about 2 hours, which was pretty good considering the fact that its the day before Christmas Eve.
When I got home I took Mikan out for an hour long walk!! It was awesome…I didn’t intend on walking that long but the weather was gorgeous and Mikan was happy 🙂
I snacked on a yogurt with a little honey to tide me over until dinner…
I made the creme anglaise for my honey thyme ice cream (which tasted AWESOME) and set it in the fridge to cool overnight. Tomorrow morning I’ll crank it in the ice cream maker then freeze it again until dessert time.
And for dinner we just had leftovers….blueberry chicken from last night, salad (with blue cheese crumbles, sliced almonds, dried cranberries and homemade dressing) and toasted olive bread with a smear of butter.
I had two of my favorite cookies EVER for dessert 😉
And watched a little Ratatouille with the folks. Tomorrow I’m waking up early to get going on my walnut cake as well as another secret baking project I can’t unveil yet (because everyone I know reads this blog!). I was really wanted to get to a noon hot yoga flow tomorrow but I already know there will be no time, so my mom and I are going to do a Yoga to the People class via my laptop in the living room 🙂 Keeps the holiday stresses at ease, people, keeps it at ease. No tension no worries, as my Bikram instructor, Thom, likes to repeat over and over to us in class.
I am SO tired! Must be all that walking I did earlier. I’ll see you in the morning for a Christmas Eve breakfast!

December 23, 2008 at 9:18 pmI have not seen those cookies in FOREVER! My grandma used to get them for me when I would stay with her during the summers.. I had totally forgotten about that.
Anyways, good luck with your cake! It sounds like it will be amazing.

December 23, 2008 at 9:39 pmHey Jenna! That salad sounds soooooo good! I can’t wait to see how the walnut cake and ice cream turn out, sounds like an amazingly fun baking project(I love baking!) and sounds like it will be delicious as well! I just ordered a couple Amanda Hesser books based on your recs, can’t wait to get them! I saw you had Julie & Julia in with your re-reads the other day, that book is one of my faves. Speaking of making ice cream, have you ever tried any of the recipies from David Lebovitz’s The Perfect Scoop? I highly reccomend it, if just for the pictures alone. Ok, well have a good night and good luck with the baking!

December 23, 2008 at 11:57 pmLoving the blueberry chicken…but I’m a sucker for anything savory.
“No Tension, No Worries” It’s so true. Every time I slow down to meditate or do a few yoga stretches, everything comes back into perspective and the worries disappear. Thanks for that reminder.

December 24, 2008 at 3:52 amMy husband loves the dark chocolate variety of those cookies. I had never even heard of them before I met him. It sounds like you are really enjoying your down time even if you are a bit busy.
